On 28 July, Goethe-Zentrum Trivandrum hosted The Day My Father Became a Bush, a captivating theatre performance presented by puppeteer Kathrin Blüchert, with students from Christ Nagar School Trivandrum.
Adapted from the novel by Joke van Leeuwen, the performance explored the experiences of a young child navigating war, displacement, and the search for home. Through a creative blend of storytelling, puppetry, shadow theatre, and chalk drawing, the students were introduced to a powerful story of courage, resilience, friendship, and hope.
The performance offered a meaningful opportunity for young audiences to engage with theatre while reflecting on empathy, belonging, and the experiences of children affected by conflict.
