The German Day of Unity was celebrated with a grand function in Trivandrum on Friday evening. The Consul General H.E. Achim Burkart spoke about the significance of a closer cooperation among nations in the backdrop of several issues and crises the world is encountering today. Mr G. Vijaya Raghavan, chairperson of the Goethe-Zentrum welcomed the guests, which included several eminent personalities from different walks of life in Kerala. The District Collector of Trivandrum Shri. Geromic George IAS graced the occasion with his presence and fondly remembered his affinity for Germany ever since he learned basic German from the Goethe-Institut in Delhi. Honorary Consul Dr. Syed Ibrahim mentioned about the new responsibilities of the Goethe-Zentrum in managing the language, courses and examinations in Kerala and thanked everybody, who celebrated this day to further enhance the collaborations between Kerala and Germany. The Indo-German fusion concert by Trio Benares left the audience speechless.
